Hi Father,

The first episode made a similar point to the one you made in terms of Jesus being "another" Moses and Elijah. The link to Moses was made through the miracle of the Multiplication of the Loaves (compared to manna) while that to Elijah was through the miracle of the Raising of the Widow's Son.

Hi Kensy, You have a good point. I was really linking Moses and Elijah with the mission of liberation and not intending to ascribe to them a notable vulnerability in the face of violence. It probably didn't sound quite as obviously strange to the ear as it admittedly looks to the eye on the page.

As for the TV programme ... I intended to set the video for it but forgot. So I can't comment.

Jesus takes up the baton from Moses and Elijah and takes up with it their ministry of liberation, a ministry only ever carried out by bearing the glory of God vulnerably among the world’s violence.

Isn’t that rather a strange view considering how Moses hardly shied away from being a participant in “the world’s violence”? And Elijah was not above looking for physical harm to his opponents either.

Have you been watching the “Miracles of Jesus” (by Rageh Omar) series on BBC? What is your take on it?
