WordPress Plugins

One of the beauties of the WordPress blogging software that powers this site is its extensibility. You name it and you can probably find a plugin to do it … and when you can’t you can write your own!

My own attempts at making WordPress plugins are listed here. They have been tested on the latest versions of WordPress and most should also work on earlier versions too.

I have fixed a bug in the posts plugins where, under WordPress 2.1, they would show attachments as well as posts.

Thanks for adding Related posts for feeds…

I had ditched your plugin for Aizattos plugin, just because of that reason.

Am back to yours again :D

Here’s a list in which I introduced your plugin to my readers:

This plugin is not working, it is use less for me it shows onlly hello world post

  • 5. Rob  |  November 6th, 2007 at 4:04 pm

Alex: Are you talking about Similar Posts? If so how many posts do you have yet? The MySQL fulltext search is only reliable when you begin to get a few real posts with plenty of words in them.

Let me know if this helps at all.

Great plugins. I’m using the “Similar Posts” plugin and I’m really impressed with the speed and the customisation - too many plugins just display things inside tags.

Hi, I was searching for a plugin that displays ‘Delicious rank’, like Digg. Digg Rank plugin shows how many times a post has been digged, likewise is there a plugin for delicious, which ONLY shows how many times a post has been saved on Delicious?! in a stylish, and neat manner!?
    Thanks.

Awesome plugins! I love them! When will the next version of the post plugins come? Been looking for something to snip the titles in recent posts. I can sometimes make pretty long ones.

  • 14. Rob  |  February 27th, 2008 at 9:39 am

Phusion: Soon! They are basically ready (though it is hard to stop fiddling with algorithms for Similar Posts) and mainly need documenting before posting. Ill-health is slowing things down though. Apologies.

  • 15. Phusion  |  February 28th, 2008 at 1:38 pm

    Sweet!

And don’t apologize, there’s no need to rush when you’re not feeling well. ;P

Rob, this post refers also to my post about false dates and URLs in the comments plugin. In my similar posts plugin>>output settings page I see the following at the top, although the page is all functional

Fatal error: Call to undefined function ppl_display_trim_before() in /home/removed/public_html/myzerowaste.com/wp-content/plugins/similar-posts/similar-posts-admin.php on line 115

The other thing I’ve noticed is that the faulty URLs are pointing to posts that are as yet unpublished Maybe this can help solve the problem… Thanks

  • 25. Rob  |  June 11th, 2008 at 10:08 am

Richard: Do you have the latest version of the Post-Plugin Library? I notice from your bug report that you have an older version of Similar Posts. I recommend using the latest version of both plugins. I think that might solve your problem.

  • 26. Richard  |  June 11th, 2008 at 10:26 am

Ok, I missed that one… I have latest versions of 2.5.0.9 of similar posts, posts plugin library and recent comments. I have now rebuilt the index (default settings) My home page similar posts block is still showing dates from 1970 in the URI, although the on hover page titeles appears to be correct now. What further actions can I take to get this right? (new bug report submitted for you to glean.) Thanks.

  • 27. Rob  |  June 11th, 2008 at 11:22 am

Richard: I emailed you a debugging suggestion.
