I am back in blogland after helping out with our training courses for a month. I always enjoy the thinking and teaching involved though, this year more than the last, it took it out of me and left me with a growing set of CFS symptoms. Most of them are letting up a bit as …

Premature
I think I was a little premature in my claim to be back in action. I loved presiding at Mass–it’s where I belong–after a few weeks break but it took a disproportionate toll and I’m still, the morning after, shaking and aching.
Sunday Week 7 Year C
Readings: 1 Sam 26:2-23; 1 Cor 15:45-49; Luke 6:27-38 Today’s readings are a charter for stupidity and a counsel for failure. Economics is founded on the belief that value grows by self-interest. Politics is built on the conviction that power must be contained by power and violence met with violence. And the biological science has …
Back in Action
All being well I’ll have a homily to post shortly though I must admit I’m not that happy with it. This will be my first time presiding at Mass in a few weeks of not feeling up to it. I must admit I’m not entirely sure it’s a good idea today either! My brain is …
Un-Messed?

Pray-as-you-go
Speaking of Jesuits and podcasting, Peter Scally, SJ was here in Loyola Hall over the New Year — for a Jesuit meeting in preparation for next year’s General Congregation of our Order — and in spare moments recording anyone he could catch to use as voices for Pray-As-You-Go. The curious among you can listen to …
In Our Time: The Jesuits
Melvyn Bragg‘s Radio 4 programme In Our Time covers all sorts of interesting subjects in fascinating depth for a 45 minute show. Last week the subject was ‘Mars – the search for life on the Red Planet’ and in recent weeks the topics have been: Borges – the life and work of Argentina’s best loved …
